With a PhD in Public Policy and Urban Affairs, Dr. Hellwig has spent decades as community organizer and urban planner within immigrant communities, notably serving as Senior Director of Programs at Erie Neighborhood House. Her commitment to immigrant communities and social equity is further reflected in her leadership roles at the Chicago Women’s History Center and Bickerdike Redevelopment Corp.
